What is the Mint Festival?

The Mint Festival is an annual community celebration held in St. Johns, Michigan, honoring our region’s rich agricultural heritage—especially our history as a major producer of mint. The festival brings together families, visitors, and local businesses for a fun-filled experience featuring entertainment, food, crafts, and events for all ages.

The Mint Festival is held annually on the second weekend of August. The Festival kicks off at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon and concludes at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Check out the events schedule for a detailed list of activities and times.

Where does the Mint Festival take place?

The festival is held in downtown St. Johns, Michigan, with vendors and activities surrounding the iconic silos, St. Johns Depot, and Briggs District Library. The majority of vendors will be located on Railroad Street, Higham Street, and Spring Street. This walkable layout makes it easy to explore everything the festival has to offer.

What can I do at the Mint Festival?

There’s something for everyone at the Mint Festival, including over 100 vendors, live music, the Grand Mint Parade, vintage arcade games, food trucks, mint ice cream booth, a classic car show, and kids’ activities. â€‹The Mint Festival is designed with families in mind, offering safe, fun, and engaging activities for everyone from children to senior citizens. It’s a great outing for all ages!

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is ample parking available throughout downtown St. Johns during the festival. Free street parking is available on nearly all of the surrounding streets, including Steel, Mead, Lincoln, Gibbs, Swegles, and more! Additionally, local partners will be offering event parking in their owned surface lots as community fundraisers throughout the weekend. St. Johns is a beautiful place to walk around and explore, so don't shy away from walking to the festival!

Why is St. Johns known for mint?

St. Johns is often called “Mint City USA” due to its long history of mint farming and production. Mint farmers like the Crosby family, Livingston family, Henning family, Kus family and more championed an agricultural movement more than a century ago that has made a lasting impact in Clinton County. The Mint Festival celebrates this unique heritage while providing a weekend of fun and connection.
